What is a Pessary and how do they work?

  • A pessary is a removable soft silicone device worn inside the vagina to support the vaginal space. They are kind of like a sports bra for your vagina.

  • Pessaries help manage symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) such as bulging or heaviness and symptoms of stress urinary incontinence (SUI), leakage of urine with coughing, straining, sneezing, laughing or exercise.

  • Pessaries come in many different shapes and sizes to address your individual needs, symptoms and anatomy.

Who are Pessaries for?

Women of all ages who need additional support to reduce symptoms and stay active. Are you:

  • Postpartum with vaginal heaviness or urine leakage with exercise or daily activity

  • Experiencing perimenopause or menopause related vaginal changes such as new urine leakage or heaviness

  • Post hysterectomy

  • Recommended to have pelvic organ prolapse surgery and needing temporary support while you wait or looking for a non-surgical supportive option
